Life Moves Pretty Fast

If you don't stop and take a look once in a while, you could miss it.

  • Day 19:  Televangelists
I don’t watch televangelists.
Before I was saved, I was home one summer from college, and Joel Osteen came on TV after some show, and my older brother and mom both said something to the effect of:
“Oh, this guy.  He’s so nice, and his message is so great.”
Only, Joel Osteen doesn’t preach the entirety of the Bible.  He is making tons of money by telling people warm, fuzzy messages, and writing books all about how he has white teeth and a beautiful wife and that people deserve to have whatever stuff they want.
That’s false.  It’s called heresy.
Also, recently, he was asked about the truth about heaven and hell, and he wouldn’t take a stand.  What kind of FOLLOWER of Jesus (or claimed follower) wouldn’t stand up for the one who makes a clear distinction about exactly that issue?
So no, I don’t.  But I do watch Sifl & Olly because they’re socks, and they hilarious.  Actually, I just keep remembering the title of the show, and really nothing else.  Was it on MTV, back when MTV was actually music television?  Remember those days?  I like the name Olly.
